2019 Summit Takeaways

In 2019, The Power of Procurement...
 

  1. Convened food system leaders from across the country, including advocates, food service operators, good food suppliers, city officials, thought leaders, and funders.

  2. Brought together regional cohorts to discuss opportunities and solutions unique to their foodsheds.

  3. Facilitated peer learning and networking among local and national procurement leaders.

  4. Highlighted early successes in implementing the Good Food Purchasing Program.

  5. Coalesced an ecosystem of Good Food Purchasing that fueled continued collaboration among institutions and regions.

Post-summit feedback revealed that participants left feeling energized, motivated, and better connected to ongoing efforts in the field. They left with notebooks full of insights and ideas, ready to continue conversations with their cohorts, recruit new members, and develop actionable plans.

Power of Procurement 2025

The Power of Procurement 2025 summit will reignite the enthusiasm and collaboration sparked in 2019, celebrate what we have accomplished together, reflect on where we've been, and align strategies and next steps toward our collective 2030 vision. The convening will bring together food producers, institutions, foundations, businesses, entrepreneurs, coalition partners, advocates, and policymakers to dive into discussion and explore topics central to food systems work aligned with Implementer and Movement Builder tracks of the Good Food Purchasing movement.

Food systems leaders across the farm-to-fork spectrum are better connected, have deepened their collaboration, and are benefiting from shared knowledge

The 10th anniversary of the Center is celebrated, along with the collective accomplishments of our cross-sector partners.

Our network of food systems leaders are empowered to draw inspiration from and apply lessons learned from international public food procurement models.

Good Food Purchasing regions are aligned around a collective agenda to achieve our 2030 vision.
