Chicago Food Policy
Action Council

Chicago Food Policy Action Council co-facilitates, advocates, and implements policies that advance food justice & sovereignty in Chicago and across the region. CFPAC works to ensure that all Chicagoans, especially Black, Indigenous, and residents of color, have the right to produce and access culturally appropriate, nutritious, sustainable and fair food.

CFPAC hosts the Metro Chicago Good Food Purchasing Initiative, which is a coalition-led initiative that ensures the places that are feeding Chicagoland communities purchase and serve food that advances a good food system for all. Key focus areas for GFPI include: Implementing the Good Food Purchasing Program (GFPP), Developing an Equitable Supply Chain, Creating Good Food Culture, and Research and Evaluation. Good Food Purchasing Policies have been adopted in the City of Chicago and Cook County departments and sister agencies including: Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Department of Family and Support Services, Chicago Parks District and Cook County Health, Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, and the Sheriff's Office.
